The Inspectional Services Department is responsible for the implementation of the State Building Code and city of Cambridge Zoning Ordinance. Under the general supervision of the Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner, the selected candidate should be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who will provide building-related services to Cambridge residents and assist the department’s mission to implement zoning and building codes. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, urban planning, legal studies or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, and at least two years’ related work experience, preferably with a municipal zoning entity. Experience with the interpretation and application of zoning laws, zoning overlay districts and an understanding of current municipal issues and trends. Ability to read and comprehend building plans and property site plans. Superior customer service skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills; strong computer skills including demonstrated proficiency with essential software (Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, Adobe InDesign).  $30.61 – $38.06 per hour plus excellent benefits.
