The purpose of this position is to be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the water treatment plant which may entail equipment maintenance and inspection; use of laboratory testing equipment; analysis of adjustments needed to maintain water quality and record keeping. An individual in this position is also expected to perform many different types of maintenance work and manual labor. A Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for maintaining and improving upon the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under his/her direction and control. This individual must be able to work independently.
Required Qualifications:
Must have a high school diploma or GED, one year of water treatment plant operation experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Minimum Water Treatment license T1 is required, must have the ability to obtain Water Treatment license T2 to operate the plant unsupervised.

Hours and Salary: Hours: Three-week rotating shift 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. or 3 p.m. – 11 p.m. Works one maintenance shift per three-week rotation 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (plus required overtime)
Shift differentials for week day and weekend shifts
- AFSCME Union, Grade 20 to 24, dependent on license
- Salary dependent on union status, experience and licenses, hourly pay range of $29.50 to $37.62.
- Vacation schedule based on accrued municipal time.
