SALARY: $93,046 to $129,000 annually (in accordance with town Bylaws)
Position Summary
The town of Norton maintains a municipal water system that serves nearly the entire town, with five well supplies, four storage tanks, 140 miles of water mains, and a treatment facility with a design flow of 2.5 MGD.
The Water Superintendent position is a salaried full-time position with available benefit offerings. The Superintendent receives broad administrative direction from the Director of Public Works and is responsible for the independent management of all Water Division operations. The Superintendent is expected to carry out all policies and procedures established by the DPW Director, the Town Manager, and in conformance with federal, state and local regulatory laws, rules and regulations. The Town Manager is the appointing authority.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the quality and quantity of the town’s drinking water supply.
- Ensure the proper operation and maintenance of the Water Treatment Facility, wells and water distribution system.
- Ensure proper billing for all water customers.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws/regulations regarding the treatment of drinking
- Provide daily supervision to employees, ensuring their safety and training and ensuring the employees fulfill their obligations as town employees.
- Ensure that all operations are conducted with fiscal responsibility.
- Assist in the development of the annual budget.
- Assist in the design, implementation and oversight of construction projects.
- Complies with and completes all federal and state mandated reports pertaining to water treatment and distribution as regulatorily required.
- Represent the town of Norton as requested with federal, state, and local officials and with local residences
