We are seeking a detail-oriented and responsible *Water Primary Distribution Operator to join our water department team. Skilled manual, technical, and administrative work in connection with the town’s water system, including construction, maintenance, and repair programs as well as operation, maintenance, and repair of water treatment system components; all other related work as required.
This role is essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our primary water treatment processes, maintaining compliance with environmental and health regulations.
Education: High school diploma required. Associate degree, with coursework in the water supply and treatment preferred;
Experience: Eight years of progressively responsible experience in municipal water operations preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licensing Requirements:
- Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license required, CDL preferred.
- Massachusetts Operator of Drinking Water Facilities License: Full Grade III Distribution required.
- Massachusetts Operator of Drinking Water Facilities License: Full Grade II Treatment required.
- Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License 2B & 1B required.
- Massachusetts Backflow Device: Inspector’s license required.
- Massachusetts Backflow Surveyors license required.
Wage: $34.43/Hour; per union contract; Initial Employment carries a one-year probationary period.
A pre-employment drug test and CORI check are required for this position.
