The city of Lowell is seeking candidates for the position of Operator I in the wastewater treatment plant. The position reports directly to the Head Treatment Plant Operator and Operations Superintendent and is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing sewage treatment machinery and equipment, makes routine laboratory tests and sewage at various stages of treatment, takes and records readings of instruments, adjustments in equipment and maintains operations log. Driver’s license required. Minimum of one to two years of experience working in a related field. Knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment, knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment plant equipment. Salary range: $21.76 (min) to $25.84 (max) per hour without licenses; $22.76 (min) to $26.84 (max) per hour with hoisting or Grade 2 operator license; $23.76 (min) to $27.84 (max) per hour with hoisting and Grade 2 operator licenses; 40 hours per week; various shifts; operates on a 24-hour basis.
