Job Description
Working under general supervision of Director of Finance, the Treasurer/Collector performs the duties as described for the Division.
• Perform complex professional, supervisory, administrative & technical work in treasury and collections and managing the operations of the Treasurer/Collectors division;
• Support all activities and responsibilities of the Collector including billing, receipt, collection of property taxes (real and personal), motor vehicle excise taxes, boat excise taxes, and miscellaneous receivables.
• Prepares reconciliations of all cash and bank accounts, timely preparation/submittal of all cash reports to the Commonwealth as required by statute or regulation.
• Assists Finance Director and senior management in developing long- and short-term borrowing plans with support from the town’s financial advisor and bond counsel; prepares annual debt service budget for review; processes timely payment of all debt obligations.
Minimum Requirements:
• Possess or obtain certification as a Treasurer/Collector
• Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
• Proficiency with Financial Management Systems (munis a plus)
• Ability to be bonded
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance or related field; minimum five to seven years of related work experience,; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
