The following represent core duties. Other related duties assigned as needed.

Treasury and Financial Management

  • Manage and reconcile all cash, bank accounts, investment accounts, and transfers.
  • Process and record receipts, disbursements, vendor payments, payroll entries, and journal transactions.
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare periodic cash position reports.
  • Maintain financial records in accordance with M.G.L. Ch. 41 and state regulations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Assist in developing annual budgets and multi-year financial projections.
  • Prepare fund-level reporting for operational, capital, grant, and special revenue accounts.
  • Support preparation of annual DOR/DLS reporting.
  • Coordinate year-end closing procedures and support annual external audits.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, GASB, and all applicable requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records for all grants and ensure compliant expenditures and documentation.
  • Assist with procurement compliance under M.G.L. Ch. 30B.
  • Maintain internal control procedures to safeguard District funds.
  • Maintain QuickBooks or successor financial software.
  • Support operational departments with financial inquiries and expenditure tracking.
  • Respond to inquiries
  • Assist with payroll verification, benefit deductions, and related reporting.
  • Prepare financial reports, summaries, presentations, and materials as needed.
  • Strong knowledge of municipal finance, municipal fund accounting, GAAP, GASB, budgeting, and auditing.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to interpret and apply Massachusetts General Laws related to finance, procurement, grants, and public records.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain strict accuracy.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public administration, business, or related field
  • Minimum of five to ten years of progressively responsible accounting or municipal finance experience preferred.
  • Experience with Massachusetts municipal or district finances preferred.
  • Experience using QuickBooks, VADAR or equivalent financial software required.
  • Experience with DLS reporting, grants management, or public-sector audits preferred.
  • Must successfully pass a complete background check, including CORI.
  • Must hold a valid Massachusetts driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must pass a pre-employment medical exam, including drug testing.
  • Bondable under M.G.L. Chapter 41 requirements
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office as well as Google Workspace
  • Comfort working with cloud-based and financial management systems.

Working Conditions

  • Work performed primarily in-person, in a dynamic office environment.
  • Regular and punctual attendance required.
  • Ability to sit, type, and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.

Hours & Compensation

  • 18.00 hours/week (part-time, non-benefited).
  • Salary range: $28,080.00 – $32,675.76 annually, DOQ
