The town of Sturbridge seeks a collaborative, forward‑thinking professional Town Planner beginning July 27. This role offers the chance to guide planning in a community known for its historic character, natural resources, and strong civic engagement. The Town Planner manages the Planning department and provides professional support to the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, Design Review Committee, Historical Commission, and Affordable Housing Trust. Key duties include overseeing development review, drafting zoning bylaws, coordinating long‑range planning efforts, preparing planning and housing initiatives, administering the town’s GIS program, and serving as Floodplain Administrator. Also, leads updates to master plans, housing plans, and open space and recreation plans, and oversees grant seeking and administration.

Reports to the Town Administrator and supervises a Administrative Assistant and Housing Coordinator. Candidates should have strong communication skills, sound judgment, knowledge of Massachusetts land‑use law, and seven to ten years of relevant experience. Master’s degree required; AICP certification preferred. Salary range: $89,069–$124,696 DOQ, with full benefits.
