The town of Falmouth has in immediate opening for a recreation supervisor to assist in the delivery of a community recreational program. Responsibilities include planning recreational programs as directed by the Director of Recreation and the Recreation Committee; evaluating programs and activities; promoting programs through various written materials; organizing, teaching, and supervising varied recreational programs including the youth summer sailing program and the scheduling of the Teen Center; supervising seasonal staff as assigned by Recreation Director; training youth sport coaches; purchasing equipment and supplies as needed; maintaining inventory of equipment and supplies; performing maintenance of equipment and recreational facilities; making budgetary and policy recommendations to the Director of Recreation; performing clerical duties for department as needed; and updating the website as required. May provide administrative support to the Beach Superintendent as assigned by the Recreation Director and act as department head in absence of the Director.

Minimum requirements include a bachelor’s degree in recreation management, leisure studies, physical education or a related field and two years’ experience in recreation management, preferably in a municipal setting. Additional requirements include the ability to relate effectively and diplomatically with the general public at all age levels, to supervise subordinate personnel effectively, proficiency with office software and an ability to manage website content. The successful candidate will also possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license, be available to work according to program needs, primarily in the afternoon, evenings, and weekends. The salary range for this position is $26.85 – $33.97/hr.
