The town of Fairfax is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Manager. Located in Franklin County, Vermont, Fairfax offers a rural community feel with travel to amenities close by (St. Albans – 15 minutes, Essex -25 minutes, Burlington – 35 minutes).
Fairfax has a growing population of ~5,600 residents, over a dozen full-time employees, and additional seasonal/part-time positions. Excluding the school district, the town’s annual budget is approximately four million dollars. Fairfax has a five-member Selectboard/manager form of government.
The Town Manager is hired by the Selectboard to oversee the day-to-day operations of the town (24 V.S.A. Chapter 37). The Manager prepares meeting agendas for Selectboard meetings in consultation with the Chair and is responsible for preparing and administrating the town’s budget, representing the town in various capacities, and communicating with the community.

Municipal management experience and a degree in public or business administration is required; however, individuals with close equivalent experience and education are encouraged to apply. Salary is estimated to be 97k-107k annually.
