Winchester, Mass. (22,970 pop.), is seeking a professional and experienced municipal leader to serve as its next Town Manager. This vibrant suburban community is located 8.2 miles north of Boston. The town has a AAA rating and an FY23 general fund operating budget of $142 million. Winchester has a Select Board-Town Manager form of government with a representative Town Meeting. Candidates should have demonstrated skills and abilities in municipal finance and budgeting, economic development, personnel management, project management, communications, and collective bargaining. Applicants should have exceptional leadership and management skills, proficient understanding of municipal operations and municipal law, and an ability to work in partnership with the Select Board. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or program is required, with a degree in public administration or business administration ideal. A master’s degree is preferred, with a minimum of five to seven years of experience in executive and/or municipal management. The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package including health and retirement plans, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Starting salary range: $185,000 – $220,000, DOQ. Winchester is an AA/EOE.
