Sudbury, Mass. (18,934 pop.), is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable, and talented municipal leader with excellent communication and community engagement skills, demonstrated financial acumen, and superior project management skills, to serve as Town Manager. Sudbury is a beautiful community that is well-managed and well-situated for continued success. This historic and primarily residential community is located 20 miles west of Boston. The town has an AAA rating and stable finances. Sudbury is led by a five-member Select Board with open Town Meeting and has an FY23 operating and capital budget of $111M. Preferred candidates should have an advanced degree in public or business administration, law, or a related field and three to five years of experience as a town manager or assistant town manager, or five or more years of equivalent experience and a solid background in municipal operations and law with a preference for Massachusetts knowledge. Candidates should be proactive and strategic thinkers, who are able to prioritize and to build collaborative relationships. Applicants should have superior skills in municipal financial management, personnel management, economic and community development, procurement, and collective bargaining.
