The town of Dunstable, a community of 3,350+/- residents in North Central Middlesex County on the border of New Hampshire, is seeking a full-time Town Administrator. The Town Administrator shall be responsible for preparing and overseeing a $15 million budget, which includes the regional school district. The Town Administrator should be knowledgeable of municipal finance and preparation of a municipal budget and capital plan.

The Town Administrator shall be responsible for the town’s day-to-day operations and report directly to the Board of Selectmen. The Town Administrator will assist the board in developing town policies and oversee the implementation and oversight of these policy directives. In this capacity, the Town Administrator shall prepare reports and recommendations for the board. The Town Administrator shall be experienced in procurement, risk management, grant writing and administration, and other municipal duties.

The Town Administrator will provide leadership and direction of short- and long-range plans and shall provide professional guidance to the various departments, boards, and committees on managing municipal operations and resources. The Town Administrator will serve as the de facto Human Resource Director. The position shall be non-exempt.

The town of Dunstable will be placing a bylaw on the Nov. 2022 Special Town Meeting warrant for adopting a legally defined Town Administrator position. An Interim Town Administrator currently occupies the position.

The Board of Selectmen will review all applicants for the Town Administrator position. All applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in government, public, or business administration and have a minimum of three years as a Town Administrator, Assistant Town Administrator, or Government Manager. A master’s is preferred.
