Hadley (5,300 pop.), is seeking a financially savvy municipal leader who will forge positive relationships with stakeholders, foster regional partnerships, and have clear communication with employees and the public to serve as Town Administrator. The next Town Administrator must be confident, organized, and assertive, and embrace transparency in government. Hadley is an agricultural community in the heart of the Pioneer Valley, located along Route 9 with easy access to I-91. Hadley hosts one-third of the UMass Amherst campus, and 60% of the town’s residents are associated with the university. Hadley has an AAA rating and FY25 budget of $21.7 million, with a five-member Select Board and open Town Meeting. Preferred candidates will have a master’s degree (bachelor’s degree required), preferably in public administration or a related field and experience as a Town Manager/Administrator or head of a significant department in a complex municipal organization or professional equivalent. Preferred candidates should be able to support Hadley’s agricultural heritage while overseeing complex projects and developing a vision for reuse of key parcels along the Route 9 corridor.
Annual Salary: $115K-$150K DOQ. AA/EOE.
