Amherst is a picturesque New England community located in southern New Hampshire, with easy access to major destination points including the White Mountains, Lakes region and the Seacoast yet just an hour from Boston.
With an operating budget of $17.3M, 68 full-time and 60 part-time/seasonal employees, the Town Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of the town and developing plans for the future of the town. The Town Administrator reports to a five-person Board of Selectmen.
Candidates should have demonstrated leadership skills to guide a team of very competent department heads and town staff.
A bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred, in a related field and five-plus years of progressively responsible municipal management experience is desired. An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and abilities may also be considered.
Salary range to $175,000; with competitive benefits package, starting salary DOQ. Eligible for participation in the New Hampshire Retirement System. EOE.
