Rutland, Mass. (9,636 pop.), is seeking an experienced, knowledgeable administrator with strong financial acumen, outstanding collaboration skills, and superior communication abilities, as well as proficient personnel management and project management skills to serve as its next Town Administrator. This beautiful, fast-growing residential community is located in the geographic center of Massachusetts, approximately 52 miles west of Boston. Rutland has a rich agricultural history and limited commercial development. It has a five-member Select Board, Open Town Meeting, and a FY23 general fund budget of $24.3 million. Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, or a related field and at least five to seven years of work-related experience with at least three years in a managerial capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Candidates should be strategic thinkers, team-oriented, and able to build positive and cooperative relationships with appointed/elected officials, citizens, and town employees.
