Sterling, MA (7,985 pop.), is seeking a strategic and innovative Town Administrator, with strong communication skills, to provide leadership and to support the Select Board. This lovely, primarily rural-residential town, with a growing commercial-industrial base, is centrally located in Worcester County at the foot of Mount Wachusett. The town has an AA+ rating, strong finances, and healthy reserves. Sterling is led by a three-member Select Board and has an FY22 budget of $27M. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in public administration or a related field and experience as a town administrator/manager, assistant town administrator/manager, or head of a significant municipal department, or equivalent, with demonstrated skills and abilities in economic development, community planning, municipal finance, human resources administration, personnel management, and grant management.
