The town of Rochester is seeking an experienced municipal Accountant and, if qualified, Finance Director, in preparation for a pending retirement. This full-time (40-hour) position oversees accounting operations, ensures compliance with financial regulations, and contributes to strategic financial planning. Ideally, the successful candidate will begin in April to shadow the current person.
Responsibilities:
 • Oversee all accounting functions for the town in compliance with GASB and Massachusetts DOR standards.
 • Exercise budgetary controls, monitor expenditures, and prepare the annual budgets.
 • Collaborate with town administration on long-term financial planning and policy development.
Qualifications:
 • Strong knowledge of municipal finance, accounting principles, procurement, and town government operations.
 • Certified Government Accountant preferred; Massachusetts Certified Public Purchasing Official desirable.
 • Proven financial management experience with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Salary:
 • Town Accountant: $85,000–$95,000
 • Town Accountant/Finance Director: $100,000–$115,000
Salary will be based on experience and qualifications.
