The town of Leicester seeks a motivated and detail-oriented professional for the full-time position of Town Accountant. Responsibilities include:
- Performing technical accounting, financial, and computerized functions to maintain the municipal accounting system.
- Interpreting and administering federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to municipal financial management.
- Preparing 1099s and various financial reports, including general and enterprise fund expense/revenue reports, town meeting articles, and special revenue funds.
- Preparing the annual Free Cash certification, Schedule A, and Tax Recap.
- Coordinating the annual audit process with Town Auditors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of three years of experience in public finance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must successfully pass a CORI background check.
- Thorough knowledge of UMAS, GAAP, and GASB regulations required.
- Experience with VADAR software preferred.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $64,016 – $102,152, commensurate with municipal knowledge and experience, per the Town’s Classification and Compensation Plan.
- Anticipated hiring range: $70,000 – $90,000 + or -, depending on qualifications and experience.
- 38-hour work week, Monday through Thursday (four-day schedule).
- The town is willing to consider reduced hours upon a mutually agreed-upon schedule between the town and the selected candidate.
