The town of Halifax is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Town Accountant. This position serves as a quasi-Finance Director and is expected to attend all Finance Committee meetings.

The Town Accountant is responsible for balancing and reconciling accounts receivable with the Town Collector, special revenue accounts with the town or school, trust funds with the Treasurer/Collector cash book, and payables as appropriate. This position also oversees the town’s annual financial audit.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, or a closely related field; a minimum of five to seven years’ applicable experience, preferably in the municipal field and with municipal financial software applications; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

Pay Rate: $82,885-$111,895 per year (Grade 11).
