Town Administrator – Hubbardston
The town of Hubbardston (pop. ~4,147) seeks an experienced, collaborative, and community-focused professional to serve as its next Town Administrator. Located in north-central Worcester County, Hubbardston is a rural community with a strong agricultural heritage, engaged residents, and convenient access to Worcester.
Hubbardston operates under an Open Town Meeting form of government with a five-member Select Board and a professional Town Administrator structure. The town has approximately 25 full-time and 60+ part-time employees and a FY2026 budget of $11.6 million. The community maintains an AA+ bond rating, strong reserves, and little long-term debt.
Key Priorities
- Advance planning the design and construction of a new municipal complex (town offices and public safety)
- Maintain fiscal stability while balancing municipal and school funding
- Support economic development to expand the tax base
- Lead capital planning and infrastructure initiatives
- Promote transparency, communication, and community engagement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s preferred
- One to three years of municipal management or comparable leadership experience
- Strong background in municipal finance, budgeting, and personnel management
- Experience with collective bargaining (MGL c.150E) and procurement preferred
Compensation
Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 (DOQ), with competitive benefits.
