Under direct supervision of the Director of DPW, oversees the development, implementation, and prioritization of the programs, plans, and policies necessary to achieve the city’s energy efficiency objectives. Coordinates and implements energy efficiency, waste reduction, greenhouse gas emissions, climate adaptation, and resiliency programs with city and school departments, residents, and commercial sectors. Oversees various sustainability data collection efforts, including community-wide greenhouse gas inventory studies and green communities data, establishes goals, analyzes progress against key performance indicators, and reports on goal progression. Coordinates and represents the city with local, regional, and state agencies and organizations on issues related to Lawrence’s sustainability goals. Performs related tasks as required.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or a related field plus minimum three years’ experience; master’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted.
Salary Range: $63,700-$104,000
