Staff Engineer (Tunnel Redundancy)
The MWRA is seeking a Staff Engineer (Tunnel Redundancy) who participates in the planning, engineering, design and construction of projects related to the Metropolitan Tunnel Redundancy Program as well as rehabilitation and capital improvement of other water and wastewater facilities and infrastructure.
The work includes working on tasks in the management of all phases of consultant selection and supervision of professional engineering contracts, including the development of scope of services, plans and specifications, cost estimates, work schedules, technical review of consultant work, negotiations, and preparation of contract award recommendations; participating in the preparation of concept and preliminary design reports, designs, and cost estimates. Participating in the development, implementation and monitoring of construction and service contracts, plans and specifications for proposed construction, modifications/ replacements, permit applications and permits. Participating in shop drawing reviews; assisting in the oversight of geotechnical, geological and hydrogeological investigation programs and related work performed by consultants and contractors. Overseeing multi-phase subsurface investigation programs, soil sampling, rock coring, geologic mapping, geophysical surveys, in-situ testing, instrumentation installation, analytical sampling, borehole logging, and laboratory testing programs related to the Tunnel Redundancy Program as well as assigned water and wastewater engineering and or maintenance projects.
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, geology, construction management, or related engineering field; and 1 to 2 years of planning, engineering, design or construction experience on water and/or wastewater facilities design or construction is preferred; or any equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operators License is required.
Salary: $1,213.71 Weekly. *Eligible for telework up to 50% of the work week, waiting period may apply.
