The city of Cambridge is seeking a Solid Waste Program Manager who will coordinate implementation of Zero Waste Master Plan 2.0 initiatives for large residential and commercial sectors. Support businesses in reducing waste and complying with relevant ordinances, including Refuse and Litter, BYO Bag, and Polystyrene bans. Manage textile recovery, the Recycle Center, and Household Hazardous Waste events. Represent the city at community events to educate the public on zero waste initiatives. Conduct outreach on waste reduction programs, including to non-English speakers and community groups. Oversee the zero-waste volunteer program and support the community advocacy. Assist in managing inventory of trash, recycling, and food waste carts and containers. Operate City vehicle to deliver and retrieve program materials. Perform other duties as assigned in support of waste reduction and sustainability goals. Must have a High school diploma/GED. Bachelor’s degree in related field is preferred. Three years full-time experience in community outreach, program management, solid waste, or related experience. Five years full-time experience in solid waste program management, preferred. Current and valid Massachusetts Driver’s License Class D. Must lift 25–50 pounds, move carts, shovel snow, travel between sites, and follow safety rules; accommodations available if needed.
Rate: $66,970 – $81,551 Annually
