The town of Wellfleet is seeking a Sewer Superintendent. Position is responsible for supervisory, administrative, and professional work in planning, organizing, directing, and overseeing the Wastewater department. This includes managing the municipal sewer system and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The Superintendent plays a critical role in maintaining and improving the efficiency and sustainability of wastewater operations.
Under administrative direction, the employee works from policies, goals and objectives; establishes short-range plans and objectives and departmental performance standards and assumes direct accountability for department results; consults with the supervisor only where clarification, interpretation, or exception to policy may be required or requested by the supervisor. The employee exercises control in the development of departmental policies, goals and objectives, and budgets and is expected to resolve all conflicts that arise and coordinate with others as necessary.
Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences, or a related field (preferred). At least seven years of progressive experience in wastewater systems and plant management. Wastewater licensure and collection certifications preferred; ability to obtain within a specified timeframe is acceptable. Prior experience as a professional engineer is desirable.
