The Senior Health Inspector inspects and enforces State public health laws, regulations and ordinances, issues citations and orders to correct violations and represents the city in court as necessary.

The inspector enforces the State Sanitary Code by disseminating public health regulations to the community and overseeing inspections and enforcement of local and state public health laws. To do so, the inspector works with local business owners, landlords, tenants, and the general public.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in environmental health or sciences or related field. They should have three to five years of experience in the inspection process related to community sanitation, environmental health, and/or industrial hygiene, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Bilingual skills preferred but not required.
