The town of Plymouth seeks qualified applicants for the position of SAFETY COMPLIANCE OFFICER for the town of Plymouth.

Promotes a safe and injury-free preventative culture and employee engagement in all workplace safety activities. Provides leadership and guidance to ensure compliance with federal, state and local health and safety regulations/guidelines concerning employee safety. Responsible for developing and implementing safety training programs. Has the authority to inspect and issue notices of hazards, address site safety and security on town projects, municipal buildings and grounds.

Coordinates town-wide OSHA and Department of Labor Standards (DLS) compliance efforts. Prepares and oversees all health and safety policies, procedures and forms related to safety for town employees. Develops, coordinates, and conducts employee training on a wide range of safety, security, emergency response and health related issues, including COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. Conducts inspections of facilities, structures, public works projects, and other operations to identify health, safety and environmental hazards; prepares and follows up on inspection reporting. May be required to immediately correct employee behavior.

Bachelor’s degree in safety/risk management, industrial hygiene, occupational health, safety engineering, or public health; a minimum of five years of safety management experience on a variety of projects, especially those involving public works construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special requirements include OSHA certifications outlined in job description.
