RECREATION COORDINATOR

The town of Sherborn is seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic individual and effective team- player to fill the vacant position of Recreation Coordinator. The Recreation Coordinator position is a part-time 25-hour a week position that is fully benefited.

The Recreation Commission oversees approximately 20 acres of sports fields used for soccer, lacrosse, baseball and other sports. Additionally, the recreation department has responsibility for tennis and pickleball facilities, a skate park, a basketball area and the town playground.

The Recreation Coordinator plans, schedules, and budgets year-round recreational programs and services for the community, overseeing program development, publicity, registration, and financial administration, and supervising instructors, coaches, and seasonal staff. The position manages recreation-related facilities, including scheduling, maintenance coordination, and safe use of town assets; administers seasonal programming and staffing; and plans and oversees departmental capital projects. The role ensures that sports, fitness programs, activities, and services are delivered efficiently, safely, and in alignment with community needs and municipal policies.

At times this is a “hands-on” role requiring frequent visits to inspect conditions, oversee third party workers, and be available as needed for activities coordinated by the Recreation Department.
