The city of Newburyport is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to coordinate the city’s purchasing and procurement activities, help to administer the city’s insurance and risk management programs, and provide overall support to the Finance Department. As Purchasing Coordinator, you will work collaboratively with a dedicated team, and have the opportunity to contribute to the efficient and effective operations of our city.

Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, public administration or related field.
- Minimum of three years’ experience preferred working in banking or financial services, public finance, municipal government, insurance, corporate finance, treasury, consulting or related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including the ability to create and work with detailed spreadsheets.
- MCPPO designation preferred or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
- Attention to accuracy and detail; ability to learn and use new technologies; excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
Hours and Salary:
The regular work schedule consists of Monday through Wednesday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Thursday 8 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.-noon. Starting salary of $65,000+/- commensurate with qualifications, education, and experience, plus excellent benefits package.
