Public Works Director

Town of Woodstock, Vermont

The town and village of Woodstock is seeking a qualified Public Works Director to manage the operations and activities of the Public Works Department, which is comprised of the Highway Department and the Wastewater Treatment Facilities. Under the direction of the Municipal Manager, the Public Works Director performs administrative, supervisory, and routine hands on duties. The Director is responsible for planning, organizing, staffing, and directing the activities of several functions which includes: all levels of maintenance for streets, sidewalks, parks, wastewater collection lines, and three wastewater treatment facilities. The Director will be involved in all phases of the occasional reconstruction of all the facilities previously mentioned. Reconstruction projects occur in various sizes and complexity.

Qualifications: A minimum of three years in wastewater, and/or road maintenance is preferred. Knowledge of heavy equipment, site development, and underground utilities. Must have or be able to obtain a State of Vermont Class B CDL. This is a salaried position and there are limited weekend, holidays, and other overtime requirements. Salary range is $75 – $90K. Salary is commensurate with experience and an excellent benefit package is included.

Woodstock is the quintessential and picturesque New England town. The village is nestled in the Ottaquechee River valley and is close to Killington Ski Area. The Public Works Department has 12 employees, $3,490,194 annual budget, and 90+/- miles of roads and streets.
