The town of Westford is seeking qualified Public Safety Telecommunicators (37.5 hours per week / four and two schedule) for Police, Fire, and EMS. The position is responsible for receiving 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency telephone calls, maintaining communications with both police, fire and EMS personnel via radio, and receiving walk-in reports from the general public. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work well in stressful situations. Other functions include, however not limited to providing Emergency Medical Dispatch instruction, possess exceptional listening skills, verbal communications skills, ability to prioritize, monitor fire alarms, deploying law enforcement, fire and ambulance personnel and related equipment.

Applicants with CJIS, E9-1-1, Emergency Medical Dispatch, APCO PST1, experience as a police dispatcher and/or fire alarm operator, knowledge of computer aided dispatch systems, and those seeking a career in emergency communications will be given preference. All applicants must have C.P.R./First aid training and certification, be able to successfully pass a background investigation, pre-employment physical, and achieve certification in all the above within three months of being hired. Candidates must be willing and available to work all shifts (7 a.m.- 3 p.m., 3 p.m. – 11 p.m., 11 p.m. – 7 a.m.), holidays and weekends, must be a non-smoker and should reside within 20 miles border to border. Starting rate of pay is $24.86 – $32.48 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
