The town of Marshfield is seeking a full-time Project Engineer – DPW.
The Project Engineer position is responsible for planning and overseeing key aspects of the town’s wastewater and solid waste programs.

Assists the DPW Director in planning, designing, and preparing bid packages and specifications for public works projects; reviews, approves and submits third-party inspection reports to Massachusetts DEP for all solid waste – transfer, waste ban compliance and landfill inspections. Assists the DPW Director in the supervision and inspection of construction of public works projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and town standards. Assists the DPW Director in reviewing and developing town standards and specifications for public works projects. Prepares (and/or reviews) construction plans for public works projects. Provides engineering support and technical assistance to the town’s regulatory boards and committees by reviewing plans for compliance with applicable town rules, regulations, and bylaws; recommending conditions for approval; must complete satisfactory inspection of construction projects for compliance with approved plans and conditions prior to payment for contracted DPW work or release of performance guarantees required by said regulatory boards or committees. Assists in the preparation of various technical compliance and other reports, including those required by the US and Massachusetts environmental protection agencies as conditions of the town’s permits.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering and three to four years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
Knowledge, Ability, and Skills
Knowledge: Knowledge of engineering and survey practices, maps and records, and equipment and techniques of drafting. Proficiency in the use of CAD software and ability to effectively utilize pavement management and GIS programs.
Abilities: Ability to use CAD software and ability to effectively utilize pavement management and GIS programs. Ability to work with mathematical concepts, making calculations rapidly and accurately. Considerable ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly and concisely and develop positive, professional working relationships with contractors, consultants, town, staff and the public. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to use standard Microsoft Office programs, such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as web-based programs. Ability to think analytically and solve moderately complex problems in a rational and logical manner.
Skills: Skill in creating, reading, and interpreting engineering plans and specifications. Critical thinking and analytical skills.
Salary Range: $98,582.25-$110,881.89, DOQ
