CITY ASSESSOR

The city of Worcester seeks candidates for two Principal Assistant Assessor positions to manage property inspection schedules, research relevant market data, develop valuation schedules, and prepare documentation for abatement review and appellate proceedings.

The Principal Assistant Assessor (Residential Appraiser), in addition to performing appraisal and data collection field work, requires expertise in the more complex categories of property valuation, and supervision of residential appraisal staff. This position is responsible for conducting research, appraisal development, and reappraisal of apartment and mixed use properties independently; requiring the exercise of prudent appraisal judgment.

The Principal Assistant Assessor (Commercial Appraiser), in addition to performing appraisal and data collection field work, requires expertise in the more complex categories of property valuation, and supervision of senior and assistant assessor staff. This position is responsible for conducting research, appraisal development, and reappraisal of commercial, industrial, apartment, and mixed use properties independently; requiring the exercise of prudent appraisal judgment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 

Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience, of which two years must be in a supervisory/managerial capacity. Must possess an MAA accreditation or similar professional certification (if in process, must have accreditation within one year of start date). Other equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the required duties of the position will be considered.

SALARY RANGE: $61,946 – $81,168 annually, full-time, exempt, with an excellent benefits package.
