The town of Whitman is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Principal Assessor to work under the direction of the three member elected Board of Assessors.
The primary function of the Principal Assessor is to oversee the valuation of all property in the community annually at full market value as outlined in Chapter 59 of the Massachusetts General Laws. This position is responsible for completing the annual tax rate setting process, including: sales analysis, preparation and submission of all relevant documentation requested by the Division of Local Services, presentation of the classification hearing to the Board of Selectmen, and tax rate recapitulation forms required by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
Full-time; 31 hours per week: Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesdays until 7:30 p.m.
Salary negotiable, commensurate with experience.
