Position:  Full-time

Pay Rate:  Salary: Grade M-2, $54,779.24-$66,924.62 Commensurate with experience

The Douglas Board of Assessors is seeking applicants for the position of Principal Assessor.  The Principal Assessor is responsible for the valuation of real and personal property for the purpose of levying the property tax, meeting the Commissioner of Revenue’s recertification requirements, setting the town tax rate, processing abatements and exemptions, calculating new growth and administering the Massachusetts General Laws relative to taxation and overseeing the daily operations of the Assessors’ Office.

The Principal Assessor must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of five years experience in assessing administration.  Must pass the MA Department of Revenue Course 101 within six months and attain the designation of Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) issued by the Massachusetts Association of Assessing Officers within three years of employment.  A familiarity with Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system preferably Patriot Properties AssessPro, Geographic Information System (GIS) and Munis is required as well as proficient in MS Office including but not limited to Word and Excel.
