The town of Rochester seeks qualified applicants for a full-time Principal Assessor. Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining assessments of real and personal property, administrative, supervisory and technical work related to the enforcement and interpretation of Department of Revenue regulations as they pertain to property tax assessment and abatement. Conducts field inspections, measures exteriors and inspects interior of commercial and residential properties. Reviews/analyzes market data. Recertification (FY 2023), including interim year, are conducted in-house.

Experience required in mass-appraisal and assessment administration. Knowledge of VISION mass-appraisal system preferred. Minimum of an associate’s degree required in business administration or finance. Three to five years of assessing or appraisal related experience plus one year of field work or any equivalent combination. MAA required within three years of hire.

Salary range $60,000 to $80,000 depending on qualifications, including capability to perform full measure and list of residential and commercial property.
