Principal Assessor

The town of Holbrook seeks a qualified professional to serve as Principal Assessor. This position is responsible for managing all assessing operations, ensuring accurate and equitable property valuations, and overseeing tax administration, GIS, and related systems.

Key responsibilities include property appraisal, tax rate setting, new growth, classification hearings, Appellate Tax Board representation, and oversight of GIS, permitting software, and Nearmap. The Principal Assessor works under the direction of the Board of Assessors.

Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in business administration, preferred but may be substituted with an associate degree in business or related field with at least five years of business administration experience, supplemented by training and experience in real estate appraisal or actual experience as an Assessor for ad valor em purposes; or any equivalent combination of education, business and related experience acceptable to the Board of Assessors. Massachusetts Accredited Assessor (MAA) certification required.

Salary: $100,000 – $110,000 DOQE
