The town of Wellesley’s Planning department seeks a full-time (35 hours/week) Preservation Planner.
The Preservation Planner assists the Wellesley Historical Commission, Historic District Commission, and Denton Road Neighborhood Conservation District Commission by studying historic assets, preparing demolition review reports, conducting architectural and planning analysis, staffing meetings, and administering commission processes. The position also supports the Planning Director, Planning Board, and Design Review Board with comprehensive planning, site plan and design review, and related matters.
Reporting to the Planning Director, this role applies expertise in municipal planning, architectural history, and preservation practices. Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills are essential, along with attendance at evening meetings.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in historic preservation, planning, architecture, architectural history, or related field, plus one year of relevant experience.
Salary: $71,400 – $88,090 DOQ.
