The town of Holliston is seeking applicants for an Operations Lieutenant for the Holliston Police Department.

The department is comprised of 25 sworn officers including; a Chief of Police, two Lieutenants, five Sergeants, and 17 Patrol Officers. The Operations Lieutenant reports to the Chief, and is responsible for directly leading day-to-day public safety operations to ensure high quality, efficient responses to public safety within the town of Holliston. The Operations Lieutenant will supervise, mentor, and evaluate assigned personnel of the department. The Operations Lieutenant manages supervisory personnel and police officers who provide public safety services to the Holliston community ensuring consistent and equitable enforcement of state and local laws. The Operations Lieutenant also reviews and approves reports on incidents and criminal investigations.

Applicants must be a graduate of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Basic Recruit Officer Academy (or eligible for a Permanent Exemption by the MPTC) and must satisfy all requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission for certification as a Police Officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The successful candidate will also hold a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, public administration, or a related field.

Previous supervisory experience in law enforcement or similar field is required.

Also required is the possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Massachusetts driver’s license. Must have a valid Massachusetts Firearms License or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

This is an administrative position assigned to a Monday through Friday schedule, but requires on occasion to be available during nights, weekends, and holidays.

The Police Lieutenant will be provided a take-home vehicle, and the position comes with a full benefits package. The starting salary range is $118,000 – $128,656 depending on training and experience.
