Full-Time Police Officers
Lateral transfer and new hires.

Requirements for transfer:

  • Completion of the MPTC full-time academy.
  • Completion of the Massachusetts Bridge Academy, with eligibility for a waiver from the  MPTC based on attendance at a certified police academy and meeting qualifications        outlined in 555 Code of Massachusetts Regulations 3.03. All applicants must be certified as full-time police officers by the Massachusetts POST Commission.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.

All candidates must undergo a comprehensive background investigation, as well as medical and psychological examinations, followed by an in-person interview.

Entry level candidates who are not POST-certified must also complete a physical abilities test and successfully graduate from an MPTC full-time police academy, along with a 10-week field training program.
