The town of Norfolk is seeking an experienced, progressive, community-focused leader to serve as its next Police Chief. The Police Chief is responsible for managing and administering the department’s personnel, equipment, and financial resources. The successful candidate will have a proven record of exceptional integrity and demonstrated leadership, effective management capability, excellent interpersonal skills, and believes in community engagement. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to lead an exceptional and dedicated group within the Norfolk Police department, and focus on fostering community relationships and collaborative practices. The Police Chief reports directly to the Town Administrator.

Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or public administration, or a related field. Master’s degree and advanced professional training are preferred including successful completion of the FBI National Academy program. A minimum of 10 years’ experience in law enforcement with at least five years of progressively responsible police management experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidates must be active in the Law Enforcement field, hold a minimum rank of Lieutenant, and satisfy all requirements set forth by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission for certification as a police officer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to apply.

Annual Salary: $180,000 +/-. Starting pay is based on qualifications and experience. The town offers a generous benefits package.
