Help shape how projects move from idea to approval in Rockland. As the Planning and Zoning Project Liaison, you’ll be the steady hub for the Planning Department and Zoning Board of Appeals—meeting with applicants, translating process into plain language, and keeping complex projects moving on schedule. You’ll coordinate hearings and public notices, prepare and share materials with boards, staff, counsel, and peer reviewers, and support accurate records from first submission through final filings with the Town Clerk. Day to day, you’ll connect Planning, Zoning, Building, and other departments; track applications and project data (including the problem-property task force); confirm compliance on approvals and expired permits; publish the ZBA calendar; and handle invoices, payroll, mail, and virtual hearing logistics.

You’re a clear communicator who’s organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working independently. An associate’s degree (or equivalent experience), at least two years in zoning/planning or a related field (municipal experience preferred), familiarity with zoning bylaws and hearing procedures, and the ability to read site plans are important. Knowledge of Massachusetts building code is a plus. Proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, and permitting software (e.g., Permit Eyes) is helpful, and you’re available for occasional evening meetings.
