The city of Watertown seeks a candidate for the Payroll Specialist in the City Auditor’s Office. Under the general direction of the City Auditor, this position is responsible in the administrative clerical duties pertaining to payroll functions and is responsible for the bi-weekly generating and processing of payroll for all city employees. The Payroll Specialist also maintains an accurate database for the processing of payroll including entering new employee information, updating employees’ changes, maintaining voluntary deductions, additional wages and general maintenance of the MUNIS database as requested.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree or equivalent two years in technical or business school; four to six years of payroll management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with MUNIS payroll preferred. Knowledge in computer software and systems such as Microsoft Office 365,
MUNIS or related payroll software. The ability to organize and maintain records, along with strong written and oral communicate skills, is essential.
Salary: This is a union position with a starting salary of $70,951 annually. Hiring above Step 1 is DOQ.
