A fantastic opportunity has opened for a seasoned Payroll Specialist to join our team in the town of Bridgewater!
We’re specifically recruiting for candidates with progressive experience in a full-cycle, multi-department payroll function. This role is responsible for processing weekly and special payment payrolls. You will ensure all transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner according to town policy and compliant with state and federal statutory regulations. You will also provide a high level of customer service to internal and external customers and governmental agencies. The desired candidate must have experience with payroll software, preferably MUNIS. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel is needed too.
The Payroll Specialist performs payroll functions, such as the coordination and processing of payroll and associated documents, as well as assist in the administration of the benefits program for all eligible employees of the town. This position interprets and applies a variety of regulations and procedures to ensure compliance, accuracy and that deadlines are met. The ideal candidate has processed a payroll for a 100+ employee organization. Candidates with experience with benefits administration would be an added plus.
Qualifications include: Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting or equivalent is desirable. Four years of fiscal/payroll experience including at least two years as a Payroll Technician preferred. Municipal payroll and benefits experience is a plus. Experience and aptitude in the use of Excel and Microsoft Word required. Strong analytical and mathematical aptitude required. Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally and electronically. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member. Adaptability is critical. Superior customer service skills handling internal and external clients is a must. Ability to handle a multitude of issues/responsibilities with attention to detail and minimal supervision. Strong organizational skills and ability to meet required deadlines.
The position is a 40 hours per week and has a competitive benefit package. The full salary range for this position under our compensation plan is $59,575.23 to $78,167.86. Candidates must detail their salary expectations with their submission.
