Patron Services Assistant

The West Bridgewater Public Library is seeking a friendly customer service oriented person to work with patrons on the floor and behind the circulation desk. This is a part-time, benefitted position. The ideal candidate will have flexibility, dependability and be patron oriented. This is a 22 hour/week position with Saturdays and some evenings required. This position reports to the Library Director and Library Assistant Director.

  • Performs circulation duties including, but not limited to, checking materials in and out, registering patrons for library cards, answering phone calls and placing holds.
  • Assists patrons with internet use, technology and use of our makerspace.
  • Answers reference questions.
  • Helps patrons find materials they’re looking for.
  • Provides Reader’s Advisory when applicable.
  • Assists with collection maintenance including shelving materials and tidying areas.
  • Acts as Passport Acceptance Agent, processing passport applications.
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous library experience preferred.
  • Experience working in a customer service type role.
  • Familiarity with general computer and internet use.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

This position is covered by the Employment Policy of the West Bridgewater Public Library and the town of West Bridgewater General Laws.

Salary:
$21.50 per hour
