The town of Falmouth is currently recruiting for a Paralegal/Administrative Assistant. Position is responsible for administrative and legal support work, to provide assistance to the Town Counsel and Associate Town Counsel and to oversee the operations of the office. Performs case management and paralegal duties including creating and maintenance of case files, tracking deadlines, due dates and scheduled events, assisting in preparation of pleadings, memoranda, briefs and other documents. Files all documents with court or administrative agency and maintains liaison with court or administrative agency, witnesses, expert witnesses, stenographers and other support personnel; assists in preparation of cases for trials and hearings; maintains status reports on all pending matters. Assists in communications with town insurance carriers and special counsel engaged by insurance carriers; assists in preparation of legal documents such as contracts, leases, licenses and deeds; assists all town departments in responding to public records requests and attends periodic continuing education events. Performs office management duties including creation and maintenance of filing system and law library; scheduling appointments, maintaining office furnishings, supplies and equipment; monitoring budget and processing accounts receivable and payable and records documents at Registry of Deeds. Performs administrative functions including answering the telephone and greeting visitors to the office, copying, filing and scanning of documents. Associate’s degree required and paralegal certification preferred, three years of office experience; municipal experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; notary public preferred.
