Job Description
The Town of Dracut is seeking a knowledgeable, professional, and detail‑oriented Local Building Inspector to join our Building/Zoning Department. This full‑time position assists the Inspector of Buildings in enforcing the Town of Dracut Zoning Bylaws, the Massachusetts State Building Code (780 CMR), Architectural Access Board Regulations (521 CMR), and related state and local laws. Responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, issuing or denying building permits, conducting field inspections for residential, commercial, and school buildings, responding to complaints, assisting with counter inquiries, maintaining accurate public records, and collaborating with other Town and State officials.
Candidates must meet the qualifications outlined in M.G.L. c.143, Sec. 3, including experience or education related to building construction or design; certification as a Local Inspector is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required; training in OpenGov software will be provided. A valid Class D driver’s license is required.
