The Trustees of the Maynard Public Library seek an innovative, dynamic, community-minded leader to serve as the full-time Director of its well established, highly-valued library.

The library serves more than 10,000 residents in the town of Maynard, a community that appreciates excellence in library services. The library is located in the former Roosevelt school, renovated in 2006 into a truly beautiful town building. As the town’s de facto community center, the library hosts a variety of meetings and events.   The library enjoys the support of an engaged Board of Trustees and a friendly staff, committed to creating a thriving library in the heart of our community, and who pride themselves in the quantity and variety of programs offered for residents of all ages and backgrounds. The director manages all library operations assisted by an outstanding staff, and works with community partners, especially our very active Friends of the Maynard Library organization.

As part of an exciting micro-urban community, the library is a focal point for all ages and a source of information, education, and culturally enriching programs for the residents of Maynard and surrounding areas. Located in an active and evolving MetroWest area, with easy access to its diverse cultural and business districts, this position is an excellent next step for both personal and professional growth.

The applicant must be an excellent and confident communicator with a professional yet friendly approach. Collaboration with stakeholders is expected as is creativity and initiative.

A master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited program along with a minimum of eight years of progressively responsible experience in library administration, including personnel management, fiscal management, and program development; facility management experience preferred; five years of experience in a progressively responsible library administration and supervisory capacity including demonstrated leadership qualities, experience leading and mentoring staff required. Mass Board of Library Commissioners Certification preferred. Salary range $70,000 – $83,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Must be able to pass pre-employment CORI/SORI checks.
