The city of Somerville is in search of a Legislative Liaison. This position serves as a key liaison between the Mayor’s Office and external partners, including the City Council, state and federal officials, the Governor’s Office, the School Department, and other municipalities. The role coordinates intergovernmental communication, develops policy recommendations, tracks legislation, drafts testimony and legislative language, and manages high-priority projects requiring City Council action. Responsibilities also include supporting budget planning, responding to Council inquiries, advising departments on stakeholder engagement, and representing the Administration at public meetings. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant experience in public policy, public administration, or a related field, along with strong knowledge of municipal government, project management, policy development, and legislative processes. Success in this role requires exceptional communication, relationship-building, organizational, and analytical skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Performs other related duties that may be assigned.
Hours: Full-time, in-person role. City Hall hours, evening hours required on a regular basis.
Salary: $90,000-$93,600 annualized, plus benefits.
