The town of Wayland seeks qualified candidates for a full-time, union Public Safety Joint Communications Dispatcher. The Dispatcher receives and processes all emergency and non-emergency calls for service from the Wayland Police and Fire Departments. Works under the general supervision of the Police Chief and Fire Chief. Successful candidates must have good judgment to determine the correct response to calls and in dispatching all necessary personnel and equipment. Must have a high school diploma and two or more years’ experience working with the public. Experience in emergency or security services desirable. Certifications in 9-1-1 systems in Mass., CPR, first responder, police/fire dispatch, emergency medical dispatch (EMD) and suicide prevention preferred, or ability to obtain certification.
